GPS Anywhere is a mock-location tool for developers and testers. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

Summary

GPS Anywhere does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics. Everything you create stays on your device.

Information the app does not collect

We do not collect, and have no way to receive:

The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK and no advertising SDK.

Location permission

The app requests location permission for two reasons:

  1. To centre the map on your real position when you open the app, so you have a starting point to work from.
  2. Because Android requires a location permission for the foreground service that keeps a simulated walk running while the screen is off.

Your real location is read on the device and used on the device. It is never uploaded, stored in a file, or shared with us or anyone else.

Simulated location

When you start a simulation, the app writes coordinates to Android's own test location provider. This only works if you have enabled Developer Options and selected GPS Anywhere as the mock location app — the system will not accept simulated coordinates otherwise.

Those coordinates are supplied to the Android system on your device. Whether any other app on your device reads them is determined by Android, not by us, and nothing is sent off the device by GPS Anywhere.
